A word from the Head of Sixth Form

Welcome to Merchant Taylors’ Sixth Form, a place where ambition is nurtured, character is shaped, and excellence is achieved.

Sixth Form is one of the most exciting and transformative stages in a young person’s education. It is a time when pupils begin to take real ownership of their learning, explore their passions in greater depth, and prepare for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. At Merchant Taylors’, we are proud to support our pupils on this journey from dependent pupils to independent, confident young adults.

Our approach is rooted in the principle of ‘structured independence’. We provide the freedom and flexibility that Sixth Formers crave, balanced with the guidance and support they need to thrive. Whether it is through academic challenge, co-curricular enrichment, or personal development, we help our pupils build the habits, attitudes and resilience that will serve them well at university and beyond.

We are a community that values curiosity, creativity and compassion. Our pupils are encouraged to lead, serve, , and to grow, both in and out of the classroom. From Oxbridge preparation and academic competitions to music, drama, sport, and leadership roles, there is no shortage of opportunities to shine.

Above all, we want every pupil to feel known, valued and inspired. Our dedicated staff take the time to understand each individual’s goals and aspirations, offering personalised support every step of the way.

I warmly invite you to visit us, meet our pupils and staff, and experience the energy and ambition that define life in the Sixth Form at Merchant Taylors’.
