About Our School
We believe in giving children every chance to broaden their horizons, harness their ambition and take the first steps to a successful, happy life. We are proud of our history, dedicated to our students and excited for the next 400 years.
With class sizes much lower than the national average, we can offer a unique experience in the classroom which successfully prepares our pupils to enter the best universities, apprenticeships, and the world of work. The curriculum is delivered by a highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated teaching staff, who create a supportive working environment whereby pupils are motivated to learn.
Merchant Taylors’ incorporates the best aspects of the National Curriculum, but independence allows us the freedom to develop beyond it. We offer a balanced curriculum, combining traditional and new subjects whilst those who need it are offered individual support. Throughout the wide range of subjects and opportunities we ensure that each and every pupil discovers their own strengths and talents.
Our academic results at GCSE and A Level consistently places us amongst the top schools within the North of England. A high majority of our student’s progress on to attending their first-choice university including Oxbridge candidates.
