Aspiring Medical Students Support World Kidney Day

Aspiring medical students from Merchant Taylors’ were invited to support at Southport and Aintree Hospital’s Kidney Day.

World Kidney Day is an annual global awareness and education event which in 2019 is focused on the burden of kidney disease, disparities and access to healthcare with the theme: Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere.

The aim of the day is to draw public attention to the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to help protect the kidneys, the risks for developing kidney disease and the impact it has on patients, which is something our medical students were very keen to get involved with.

Students supported hospital staff in providing free health screenings and advice. The students took part in glucose testing, urine testing, cholesterol testing, blood pressure checks BMI checks and heart rate check ups.
