Bus Timetables

Merchant Taylors’ offers a comprehensive service of buses and coaches each morning and afternoon from a wide catchment area ranging from Warrington, Widnes, Wigan and South Liverpool up to Parbold, Ormskirk, Formby and Southport.

This service is operated by the school in partnership with a local, well-respected travel company and is available for the use of all our students, aged 4-18. We are always happy to consider running new routes if there is sufficient demand from a particular location.

All drivers are DBS approved and wherever possible remain the dedicated driver on a given route. We continually review travel times and pick up locations to ensure we are providing the best possible service.

Will, Isaac and Noah made it to the final three, performing their poems by heart in a spectacular recital. Each boy has worked extremely hard and shown great resilience, commitment and creativity at each stage, spending a significant amount of time rehearsing.

Huge congratulations and good luck to all involved.

Congratulations to Year 12 pupil, Emily, who has w Congratulations to Year 12 pupil, Emily, who has won a place on the XMaS Scientist Experience. This means that in June, she will be jetting off to Grenoble to take part in the Synchrotron@School Programme in the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF).

Some 8000 scientists visit this particle accelerator every year, and Emily will be able to experience what life might be like as an international research scientist.

Emily won one of 16 places on the four day all expenses paid trip, organised by The University of Warwick, after entering the national XMaS competition. Her winning essay was entitled ‘Ada Yonath: her life and contributions to science’ and highlighted the impact that Ada has had in narrowing the vast gender imbalance in STEM by becoming the first woman from the Middle East to win a Nobel prize in the sciences.

This is the fifth year that MTGS have had winners in this competition, and we know from previous girls’ experiences that Emily is going to have a fabulous time. A huge well done, Emily!
