An Excellent Education

We combine traditional teaching methods with an innovative approach to challenge and inspire young minds by nurturing creativity and encouraging independent thinking. We believe in the correct balance between work and play – pupils should be stretched but never stressed.

Our aim is to educate the whole child and this is underpinned by excellent academic attainment and dedicated pastoral care. Our staff are highly-experienced and their dedication to and understanding of each pupil ensures the best atmosphere for them to have fun and develop a high level of self-esteem.

There is nothing quite as wonderful as a child’s expression when he or she grasps a new concept for the first time, or experiences that moment of awe and wonder. Boys and girls are often at different stages of learning and development, so we make sure that we are able to take care of each child’s specific needs and interests.

From day one, children are encouraged to develop their individual talents and have a love of life. We want pupils to have a passion for independent learning which goes far beyond the classroom, so we offer them opportunities within our bespoke curriculum for creative thinking, individual learning and adventure.

The curriculum encompasses all subjects relating to EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2 of the National Curriculum, usually reaching well beyond its basic requirements. As an independent school, we also enjoy the freedom to develop our own schemes of work appropriate to the needs of our pupils.

We aim to provide our pupils with memorable experiences that will inspire future learning, so we invite visitors, guests and speakers into school and the children enjoy a programme of school visits which help to bring learning to life and stimulate their imaginations.

Remote learning

We know that learning never stops and throughout the Covid-19 lockdown we were able to minimise disruption to our children’s education through a variety of online platforms that included hundreds of live lessons with teachers and one-to-one support for those children who needed it.

We are proud of our remote learning capability and it gives us great confidence that we are well-equipped to help pupils handle any future challenges we may face.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passi It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Bennett, a dedicated and much-loved former Headmaster of the Junior Boys’ School.

When Brian arrived as a fresh-faced young Headmaster in the autumn of 1986, the school consisted of just one classroom and three wooden huts. Over more than two decades of devoted service, he oversaw a period of remarkable growth and transformation. Under his leadership, the Junior Boys’ School doubled in size and developed into a centre of excellence, boasting outstanding facilities and buildings.

Brian was an exceptional Headmaster who combined genuine love and care for the boys with a steadfast commitment to high standards in education. His legacy lives on in the school community and in the many lives he shaped during his years of service.

He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his wife Ruth, their family, friends, and colleagues at this sad time.
