A Word from our Headmistress
Welcome to Merchant Taylors’ Girls’ School, where a proud history and a commitment to innovation in education combine to create the very best platform for the future education of girls.
Our happy, caring family of staff and pupils underpins everything that is so wonderful about our school. There are strong bonds between girls and their teachers and we encourage each other to promote and support the development of each individual girl. As a result, girls flourish.
We are rightly proud of our reputation for academic excellence and the breadth of our school curricula allows girls to develop their intellectual curiosity, a real passion for life-long learning and receive a very personalised approach to their studies.
Girls are encouraged to be ambitious, to develop at a pace that is right for their own talents and needs and have the character and confidence to take risks and try new ways of improving what they do.
Aside from academic rigour, our school abounds with wider opportunities and a unique range of co-curricular and enrichment activities is what makes Merchant Taylors’ truly special. Whether it’s a specialist science club, a sports competition, a music or drama performance, or taking part in our Combined Cadet Force, girls are free to explore what really interests them and enjoy a well-rounded school experience.
It is important to us that we help to raise confident, independent young women who are equipped to face the challenges of the modern world and are well-placed to enjoy fulfilling, successful lives beyond school. Central to all of this is a girl’s happiness and her ability to be comfortable in her own skin and we support this careful development through the provision of excellent pastoral care.
Please do come and visit us when you are able to do so. I would love to show you first-hand the spirit, enthusiasm and dedication that make our staff and I so proud of our school.
Mrs Claire Tao
Headmistress
