Learning Support offers support for any boy needing extra input to help them achieve their full potential.
The approach is flexible, providing support, as far as possible, where and when it is needed. It varies from small group booster sessions, to working regularly with an individual on a specific learning difficulty, or supporting a whole class with story writing or long division.
Help Club is held once a week at lunchtime, where boys can ask for help with anything! Board games are also available to encourage social skills and build confidence.
Pupils requiring support are identified in a variety of ways. There is close liaison with MTPS ensuring continuity on transition. Class teachers, parents and the boys themselves play a vital part in raising concerns. Reading, spelling and numeracy testing is used to diagnose specific difficulties and termly exam results are monitored carefully. External agencies, such as Speech Therapists or Educational Psychologists are consulted where appropriate
Regular contact between parents and school is encouraged and parents are invited to discuss their son’s progress at an individual review meeting or at parents evenings.
